Rationale: We want people to be able to see what personalized pathways can look like in a real classroom, not just in theory, with the understanding that our way is not the only way. We also want people to see how proficiency scales can effectively be used to guide instruction.
Learning Objectives: Participants will: -Understand the process of creating pathways is an ongoing learning experience that requires growth mindset. -See an example of personalized learning in a real classroom. -Leave with templates that they can use to potentially begin the process of creating learning pathways. -Have an opportunity to network with other teachers who are currently utilizing innovative practices. -Engage in a Q&A Session to ask questions and receive support for moving forward.
Description: Do you ever wonder what personalized learning could like in your classroom or if personalized learning could be successful in your grade level? If so, this session is for you! We will explore the rationale for making the shift to personalized learning, resources to help you start the journey toward personalizing your classroom, and examples of student work from a classroom currently implementing personalized learning. Come to this session to hear all about the positive outcomes and challenges along the way!
Modalities/Implementation Practices: We will use a Google Slides presentation with interactive Pear Deck slides to increase engagement. We will include videos of our students explaining our personalized pathways and their thoughts, work samples (the good and the bad), planning guides, a question and answer session, lessons we have learned along the way, and an opportunity for networking and support after the session.
