Learning Objectives & Rationale: 1.Preschool teachers will know the content of the Creative Curriculum kit and required components of the curriculum. 2. Preschool Teachers will be equipped to access and use the TS Gold online assessment tool for ongoing documentation, developmental screening, and benchmark assessments. Teaching Strategies Gold is the online assessment component that goes along with the Creative Curriculum, which is Johnston County Public Schools preschool curriculum. 3. Preschool Teachers will be equipped to use a new Lesson Plan template that will ensure they intentionally plan all required preschool lesson components and clearly communicate how each component meets the standards and curriculum used by the Johnston County Public School Preschool Program.
Description: Participants will complete a walkthrough of the Creative Curriculum Kit and an overview of the TS Gold online assessment tool and how it can be used for a variety of purposes. We will review the NC Foundations of Early Learning Standards and how they align with the Creative Curriculum. Participants will then be introduced to and equipped to use a new Lesson Plan template that will allow them to create and track lesson plans throughout the school year. We have created an electronic lesson plan template that meets all lesson plan requirements as outlined by the NC General Assembly guidelines, state licensing guidelines, and local (Johnston County) requirements for preschool classrooms. This will allow for consistency between how all teachers in the county document their lesson plans. Also, our electronic version gives teachers drop down lists that will give them a quick way to tag which Standard and curriculum objective they are meeting with each portion of their plan.
Modalities/Implementation Practices: We will use a speaker and a slides presentation in addition to hands on materials that will be modeled for teachers. A classroom teacher will help present material to connect the relevance of the session to ongoing, relevant classroom practices.
