reIgniteJoCo 2019 CvHS has ended
Reminder you will be building your own credit at the close of this event.  Each session will count 1.2 hours towards your credit.  You will collect certificates throughout the event to submit in MyLearningPlan at the conclusion of reIGNITE 2019. Digital Sessions will require the Digital Learning Artifact: bit.ly/jcpsdlcartifact.

Note: If you are attending with your PLC members you might consider signing up for the same reIGNITE Calibration session (Learn 1) so that you can have common language in the coming year.

Learning Objectives & Rationale: 
In the age of social media, our students mainly get their news from SnapChat and Instagram. Knowing this, we have an obligation to teach them how to navigate fake news. Our objective is to give teachers a few simple tools that they can easily integrate into their lessons to help their students distinguish fake news from real news. We also want students to be able to make the connection between school and home. Research on a phone looks different than research on a desktop. We need to teach students in a way that is relevant to the device that is in their hands and is most applicable to them. 

Description: 
Have you ever asked yourself, "How does fake news affect my classroom?" How are we supposed to teach kids to navigate fake news when it is hard for us to navigate it ourselves? What resources do we use? What tools do we need? Come join in the conversation and discover ways you can assist your students in uncovering the fake news that surrounds them.

Google slides, group discussion, and action steps for next school year.
