Reminder you will be building your own credit at the close of this event. Each session will count 1.2 hours towards your credit. You will collect certificates throughout the event to submit in MyLearningPlan at the conclusion of reIGNITE 2019. Digital Sessions will require the Digital Learning Artifact: bit.ly/jcpsdlcartifact.
Note: If you are attending with your PLC members you might consider signing up for the same reIGNITE Calibration session (Learn 1) so that you can have common language in the coming year.
Learning Objectives & Rationale: Teachers will create pathways for student learning based on a proficiency scale. Teachers will provide voice and choice in how students access, engage in, and express their learning. Teachers will examine different ways to pre-assess and track student progress in their learning.
Description: Do you want to provide students with voice and choice in their learning at their level of understanding, but you’re just not sure how to manage the different levels and options? Pathways are a great tool to allow students to enter different levels of the proficiency scale and work independently toward increasing their learning. In this session, you will experience a “chess” pathway to see how pathways work. After learning about pre-assessments, pathway development, and tracking student progress, you will create your own pathway by developing instructional strategies and artifacts of mastery for each level of a proficiency scale. Leave with a pathway you can use for the upcoming school year!
Modalities/Implementation Practices: Since teachers will participate independently in a sample pathway on Google slides, they will need to bring their own devices. After going through a sample pathway, teachers will learn in a whole group session about steps to creating a pathway, ways to pre-assess, and different options for tracking student progress. Finally, teachers will work to create a pathway for their curriculum.
