How to Build an Effective Learner Profile (and what to do with it) AVAILABLE

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity seats available

Learning Objectives & Rationale:
Teachers will be able to create a learner profile that gathers relevant information based on how the teacher wishes to use it. By starting with how the teacher wants to use the profile, he or she can create a profile in the session that will be able to be used effectively in class.

Description:
This session will assist with the creation of the learner profile, delivery of the profile questions, and analysis of the data. If educators understand the whole student (academics, extra curricular activities, needs, goals, community life, home life), we have a better chance at creating relationships. These relationships fuel a classroom dynamic of inclusion that will allow more personalized delivery as well as classroom procedures.

Modalities/Implementation Practices:
Teachers will brainstorm what information they wish to use a learner profile for, and what information they might want to know about their students before coming into the class. Then, we will show the information that we are able to gather in a learner profile and what we are able to do with it. Teachers will work in small groups to identify: what type of learner profile would work best for them, the types of questions they wish to ask, as well as how they wish to use this information. We will share as a group at the end of the session for peer feedback and final questions.
