- Participants will understand how to use literacy skills/standards to explore science concepts.
- Participants will be excited to try problem-based learning in their own classrooms.
- Participants will have brainstormed ideas including questions that address one or more standards they want to cover using the model.
Description: Student engagement is bred out of encounters with exploring their curiosities. In this session, we will dive into a problem-based learning model that allows students to use their ELA skills to discover the answers to big questions they want to solve about the real world - including ideas about science and social studies.
Modalities/Implementation Practices: We will give participants a driving question (problem to solve) and allow them to work through sources to integrate information and report back - exactly what their students will do should they decide to use this model.
