Learning Objectives & Rationale: The goal is for participants (general education teachers and special education teachers) to learn the variety of co-teaching models and how to build that relationship between teachers that will create a collaborative, personalized learning experience for students. Participants will be given applicable and real examples of how to plan realistically in an already busy schedule and incorporate innovative practices into co-teaching models.
Description: Co-Teaching can be utilized in a variety of learning environments and subject areas. Often, teachers demonstrate the one teach, one assist model and don't go beyond that within an inclusion setting. Through effective and collaborative planning both teachers can effectively create a personalized learning environment for all learners. The models of co-teaching can assist with basic classroom management as well creating a connective experience to engaging lessons that use innovative practices with technology, project based learning and inquiry.
