Reminder you will be building your own credit at the close of this event. Each session will count 1.2 hours towards your credit. Target Audience (Elementary, Secondary, Other): Any Grade, Coaches/Leaders, School Counselors & Social Workers Learning Objectives & Rationale: Learners in this workshop will learn the effects of trauma on childhood development and how this impacts student learning in the classroom. They will learn practical strategies to meet these students' needs. They will be able to implement these strategies within the context of the regular education classroom setting. Description: Today's educators face the challenge of reaching children who have experienced profound trauma and stressors within their personal and family life. In order to effectively teach these children, educators must understand the effects of trauma on the human brain and implement strategies that foster interpersonal connections and allow students to access cognitive development. This session will increase student learning and engagement by providing teachers with practical strategies to reach and teach these learners.
