Reminder you will be building your own credit at the close of this event. Each session will count 1.2 hours towards your credit. You will collect certificates throughout the event to submit in MyLearningPlan at the conclusion of reIGNITE 2019. Digital Sessions will require the Digital Learning Artifact: bit.ly/jcpsdlcartifact.
Note: If you are attending with your PLC members you might consider signing up for the same reIGNITE Calibration session (Learn 1) so that you can have common language in the coming year.
Students presenters will be coming to assist with this presentation! Learning Objectives & Rationale: SBTL: Whole Child Development: How can we provide opportunities for learner goal setting and reflection to ensure growth in the 4 C's: creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration?
Desired Outcome: Learner's personalize not only the definition of Digital Literacy and its many tenants, but they also must be able to identify when Digital Literacy is being abused or ignored. Learners will then have strategies to help move to correct the errors (intentional and unintentional) in order to become aware of their influence on their own lifelong learning success as well as their ethical development.
PP: In what ways might we enable learners to develop and manage their own personalized path? Desired Outcome: Lead learners and learners must internalize and take ownership of their use of all forms and aspects of Digital Literacy by interacting with it first as theory and then as concrete learning assessments directed to each student's/small groups of students' Learner Profiles.
Description: During this session we will discuss what learners see in the schools each day concerning students and Digital Literacy usage/application. We will also formulate questions at the beginning of the session about Digital Literacy so that we may work to clarify any confusion and answer these questions throughout the session. We will engage in the lessons and activities that JCECA freshman created and used to teach and assess Innovation Academy 7th grade students. We will then create and design individual Digital Citizenship Alliance for each individual learner's classroom and school. Finally, we will reflect on the activity using think-pair-share as well as report out protocols and make sure that we have clarified and answered to the best of our ability the questions placed in the parking lot at the beginning of the session. One AHA! Moment will be the Ticket Out the Door for the day.
Modalities/Implementation Practices: I will use the following modalities: Visual and Auditory: Scholastic novels focused on the use and implications of social media. A short video clip dealing with the power of Digital Literacy and its ability to affect people not only on the internet but in their everyday lives.
Tactile and Visual: We will use large sheets of chart paper and markers.
Physical Movement: We will choose partners and work as small groups as well as individuals throughout the session.
